ALTREFRONTIERE is an international dance festival, an educational program of intensive courses in contemporary dance and dance theater.
For the third Edition 2022 we aim to broaden our horizons on new trends in contemporary dance and its research as well as on training, Creations and the phenomenon of cultural "renaissance" that can be glimpsed in some countries of Europe, giving birth to a new initiative: ALTREFRONTIERE Enhance.
The idea stems from the desire to nurture a flow of international exchanges and contaminations, encouraging a broader cultural encounter and, at the same time, to support emerging choreographers and performers, offering them the opportunity to disseminate their work.
The aim is to contribute to the circulation of art and culture, particularly with respect to the great impact resulting from the crisis we are experiencing, and to broaden accessibility to the world of live performance in our country, for artists as much as for the public.
To begin with, we propose a week-long workshop, held by an invited artist, during which a choreographic piece will be created and presented at the end of the week.

|| FIRST AUTUMN WORKSHOP
The first creation and composition workshop as part of ALTREFRONTIERE Enhance will be led by David Hernandez.
Open to dancers from Italy and abroad, it will take place over five days, in which a choreographic piece will be created.
Participants will be selected through submission of video material.
When? ♦ from October 24 to 28, 2022
Where? ♦ in Rome (Italy) at Tangofficina, Via Cupa, 5, 00162
Each day will last 8 hours, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
The final presentation is scheduled for Friday, October 28, at 9 p.m.

♦ The cost for the whole week is 250 euros.
We will accept a maximum of 20 participants.

Selected applicants will receive an invitation by October 2, 2022.
They will also have the opportunity to have a 15 % discount to participate in the next edition of our ALTREFRONTIERE Dance Festival to be held during next summer in Tuscany.

♦ DAVID HERNANDEZ
David’s unique choreographic voice
and detailed dance language has brought critically acclaimed work to stages across Europe for over two decades. Since 2015, he has deepened his choreographic research through a partnership with Cacao Bleu vzw under the banner dh+ / David Hernandez and Collaborators. Within this framework, he created and toured the productions For Movement’s Sake Hullabaloo and Sketches on Scarlatti. These works were supported domestically by STUK (Leuven), Monty (Antwerp), Beursschouwburg (Brussels), and C-mine (Genk) and internationally by the Ballets de Lorraine, Scènes Vosges (Épinal), Into The Fields Festival (Bonn)… amongst many others.
In addition to creating choreographic work with a core group of committed dancers, he continues to influence new generations through his pedagogical activities as a faculty teacher at P.A.R.T.S and guest teacher for various education programs and studios internationally, teaching from his own pedagogical approach called Dynamic Movement Systems which he has been developing for the last several decades. He also created commissioned works for schools, companies and festivals such as Skånes Dansteater , Susanne Linke Company (Trier), Folkwang Tanzstudio (Essen) and Zagreb Dance Company. Recent pieces such as Lonely Hunter, Other, …and my beloved, The Devil’s Garden and Passage won over audiences and critics to become important repertory pieces for the companies who commissioned them.
Having begun his artistic career as a singer and student in Opera, Jazz and Studio Music at the University of Miami in his home state of Florida, USA, David continues today to nurture his musicianship through the projects Rêve d’Elephant Orchestre with Michel Debrulle and in the early music ensemble Graindelavoix. With over 30 years of stage and arts experience under his belt, David continues to push the limits of his craft through his passion for multimedia, storytelling and composing richly poetic worlds on stage and off.
